Does anyone with Swift know if their trucks come with Sirius Satellite Radio? I'm starting to buy some things for my truck when I upgrade, I have my fridge, sheets and blankets and pillows, last thing I need is my CB and Satellite Radio. Also any suggestions on CB would be helpful.

The standard Cobra 29 is all the CB you'll need. There's no reason you'll need a peaked out radio that will talk in the next state when starting out, just something with some decent range that can get you real updates of what's going on around you.

My 2015 KW came with a Sirius-equipped radio. I'm guessing I could call Sirius and register the device and start paying for the service, but since this is a company truck you never know when they'll pull it out from under you (repairs/new truck/whatever) so constantly changing the unit you are using may become tedious.

Regarding cb radios:

Compare this to drag racing- how fast do you want to go? (or in this case how far out do you want to modulate). If you just want to monitor channel 19 for what's a few miles ahead of you any sub $100 radio will get you there. The Cobra 29 is the classic trucker radio that stood the test of time.

More watts and more bells and whistles like echo, single side band and a fancy chrome case jack up your out of pocket. Not really necessary to just get the smokey report.

What I believe is even more important than the radio is a quality antenna. Wilson and Predator are fine examples.

One aspect that is often overlooked is proper antenna tuning. Invest in an SWR meter (standing wave ratio) and tune that whip to as close as 1:1 as you can and you'll transmit and receive with the best of them. One SWR meter that I recommend is from Radio Shack.

73's!

Thanks Trucktographer, btw I read all your training post lol, thanks Hammer, I think I'm going to with Cobra 29, and couple good antenna's. Trucktographer who are you driving for? I hate getting my truck set-up and then having to change rigs all the darn time.

You can move your Sirius or XM suscription between vehicles.

From their website . . .

Transfer paid subscription to a new vehicle Any unused portion of a paid subscription remaining on a vehicle you have traded in or no longer own can be transferred to your new vehicle in the form of a credit on your account. The credit will then be applied to the cost of the continuing subscription plan you choose for your new vehicle. We will also combine all of your SiriusXM accounts and let you know of any eligible discounts for multiple radios. Transfers cannot be performed online, so please call 1-866-741-7474. Be sure to have your Radio ID or VIN from your new vehicle handy when you call.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
