Well, I'm leaning strongly towards Prime, so even starting in September I'll likely still be with a trainer through the holidays. I won't need home time, but my trainer might. You're right though, probably of no concern, just kind of curious.

Now that I think about it, I might luck out and be somewhere with snow for Christmas, which I haven't seen since highschool! #brightside

I purposely started my training at the beginning of winter so I could spend my entire first winter on a trainers truck. I was happy with that decision. Winter is a long ways away though, the incentive probably isn't worth waiting so long for.

Best thing to do is whatever you feel works best for your own unique situation..However in regards to Winter Driving and Training if you started in Sept at Prime and wanted to stay on your Trainers Truck a little longer for some extra experience I don't think it would be a problem and could be arranged

Thanks everyone. Since the consensus seems to be that it won't matter too much, I think I'll attempt to get started as soon as I can get all my ducks in a row. I'll probably catch some weather even in October and November in parts of the country that aren't Vegas :)

Thanks again everyone for l of your input! Going to see about a DOT physical and make an eye appointment. So excited (and kind of scared)!

~Sami, up to about 96% sure, and counting . . .

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
