Your best bet is to contact Celadon directly and ask. Classmates have a way of getting the facts a little humbled up sometimes.

Darius, it's a valid contract. Just try not completing what you agreed to and you'll find out how mixed up your compadres are.

I recommend you finish what you started. Everyone starting a trucking career has second thoughts at some point, but the ones that come out on top are the ones that see things through whether it's easy or not.

No trucking company will train you and just let you walk away no charge. You have "friends" that say the Celadon is invalid? How many of them have had their attorney check it out? (probably a number close to zero).

Most trucking companies with their own schools want a year from you for the two months of your training. On top of that, most other companies consider one year drivers as "experienced". Drive for Celadon for the year, Darius. Then you could start looking around. But when you do, you may find that most other companies are so close to Celadon in pay and other driver benefits it's almost not worth switching.

Yes, the contract is very valid. My husband and I finished from their school not too long ago. However, we did travel to another company after some very nasty and not nice words were passed between myself and my driver advocate when they tried to force me onto a truck with a trainer when I was severely under the weather and not fit to drive. They threatened termination if I did not get on the truck and I did not. Luckily, J and I were able to find a company that liked us enough to give us a chance and train us as well as offer to help pay Celadon back. We are waiting for a call to try and work out a payment plan.

That being said, the school is very good. They know your strengths and weaknesses and help you improve on both. They do try to help out as much as possible but because of several students prior there will be changes. Hopefully Celadon's employees can be better mannered and more civil so no one has a situation like me on the company side.
