In my opinion, and not, I'm new at all this myself so, have some salt... :)
Just keep up with all your employment. It will be needed if you do decide later to go OTR. You will need to ride with a trainer for several weeks anyway. So, I'd say, take the fedex job and if it's not working or later you just must try OTR , then switch. But companies need drivers bad, they won't turn you down cause it wasn't T/T. You'll just have to ride with a trainer to get used to T/T a bit. No big deal.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Hi everyone, I realize this is not an expedited forum. Got a job offer driving for a fleet owner leased to Fed Ex Custom Critical. Not a T/T but a straight truck. Team operation. I have a Class A license but zero experience. I went to truck driving school 6 years ago. I know i need to start at the beginning again. I do have local straight truck experience and bus. Would i be selling myself short by taking a job that i would not have to go back to school for. I have always wanted to drive OTR. Family illness is why i didn't take a job right out of school. I could really use some honest input, from the truckers on this forum!! Hope this post is appropriate. Thanks for your opinions. tarheel59
