First Year Pay Totals With Prime

I never have light freight unfortunately so I'm slugging right behind em on a hill

20k is heavy for me, we have a lot of light freight. Don't get me wrong I can still pull the occasional "is this sucker gonna scale" but for the most part.. the load I had this morning was less than 10k. And I commonly pull foam car seats at 5k and insulation at less than 17k.. spoiled

I've talked to some prime l/o s that drive at 58 all the time. Their trucks are governed at 65 so it makes no sense to me, unless they're worried about fuel mileage. I like to run at 60, gives me 2 mph when I need to pass somebody doing 59.

I drive a lightweight and have had 1 load under 39k in the past month. Most I've pulled was 46k of limestone. Gross was 78.8k. Was interesting pulling that out of ct and through pa on I80.

I'm hauling that weight right now...from NJ to NE. On I 80. What fun ;). And I got that sucker legal before I even scaled it. So darn heavy the trailer tire alerts keep going off but Pittston and petro both said there's nothing wrong. What fun.

What is a light load???? wait I remember. The 1 furniture load I had. I ended up TCalling it to someone so I could get their load delivered on time. The vast majority of my loads are over 40k. Pick a number between 40k and 47k. That is where my loads sit at. Currently I am 76,500 gross.. the only time I am light is when I run empty to pick up my next load. Sad thing is I am so used to being heavy I can't stand how squirrely the trailer is when it's empty.

I pulled a load of pillows one time and it was like 3000 lbs of i remember right. Lol.

My lightest load was a load of bubble wrap. Boxed out 53' dry van , BOL said weight was 2300 lbs! If I didn't close the doors myself I wouldn't have believed I was loaded. No pallets just hand loaded rolls.

The totals...yeah as I said, I was in training for a bit and it took a few months to get in my groove.

I'm happy with it. And I went home 6 days in January ;)

My last job:

USPS of 18 years Base salary: $57,000 Bonuses & Overtime: $22,000 avg. Total at USPS. $79,000

But I have more available cashflow now having made $42,600 last year. So look at ALL of your numbers not just the obvious ones.

Wow!! I too worked at USPS for 18 years. Hartford, Norfolk, and San Diego. Mail Handler to Management of Delivery ops. I had enough. Lost my way in the last 5 years but always did driving jobs. Now I am making the leap to get a permit and go with Prime. I am ready and anxious to get on the road. Thanks for your info. See you on the road.
