MC wakes up to this:
Second question. How do you resist the urge to do a proper pre-trip at zero dark thirty?Yes, many drivers shine this on, to their loss when they do break down. You may need to push yourself to do it at the beginning off your career, but allow it to become part of your start-up routine. Once in a while if have skipped the pre-trip. But I get that"incomplete" feeling, like my shoes are not tied.
Read my post here: Why Do a Pre-Trip?
I think his point was, how do you resist the urge to test the air horn during pre-trip when everyone around you is sleeping.

Can I use my health insurance for physical
I work for Werner, and I got one, when I went to orientation, and the last one I needed, my FM at the time made an appointment at a local "doc in the box" walk in center that Werner uses, and the company paid for it.... most walk ins here in CT that do DOT's charge about $70 for DOT Physicals... And if your company doesn't pay/reimburse you for it, I think you can write it off as a business expense on your taxes, but check with whoever does your taxes....
I drive for Werner too, and I just get myself routed to a terminal when mine are due and get them done there.

Because apparently you have to send in 46 regardless of either you drove or not unless you are on home time and it's logged that you are on ht company policy
Since you said 46, I'm guessing you are Werner. If so you have to send in your 46 on any day you have any on duty time at all, driving or non driving. If you didn't log any on duty time at all you don't need to send one

Aaaaaaaaand.
I stand corrected...
Rick
That's ok. It's still a valid and stunning example of the forces involved with a big rig crash. Anyone who drives a rig watches people risk their lives making mindless and aggressive moves around big rigs every day. People obviously need reminders like that to keep it all in perspective.
and yet, even with those reminders they will still choose to do the same things every time. Which is a good reminder for us that we have to be vigilant enough for us and the other people out there with us.

What are the rules for posting here?
I fear dying of a heart attack from improper dieting and lack of regular physical workouts much more than getting killed in a trucking collision.
A truck accident is the least of my fears quite frankly.
If you were a student on my truck while I was training and had uttered those words, you would have been back at a terminal hoping for a new trainer. It tells me you don't take the risks seriously enough for me to allow you to drive my truck.

Those rollovers are quite exciting!

The thing I hated most when I was a trainer, was when students didn't put any effort in, or even worse, put in a lot of effort in avoiding doing things.

To be honest, I just idle if it's hot out. Between my dog and me, it's necessary to keep the air going. I would like to get an apu on this thing so I don't have to idle to keep cool

Time for a transition
Due to many considerations, I have given up on trucking. The most important being my wife has health issues that have gotten worse and I need to be home for her.
