Usually - insurance won't pay for a DOT Physical & Screen.
My Primary Care Physician, does DOT Physicals - but won't do it and charge it to insurance - says BlueCross doesn't allow it. He gets $90 - but a chiro I've been using for years, does it for $30.
Not a tough decision at all.

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Oh ok. I didn't know there was a difference between that and a regular physical. Thanks for clearing up!

I know Prime will still make you do a DOT physical with their doctors. I had to get one so I could get my permit before orientation in Salt Lake City. Then day one of orientation I had to get one through Prime. In fact on June 30th I will have to take mother that will be my 4th physical since March. 3 of them through Prime.
The one in orientation is covered by the connection any. Any one after that like when you have to renew your physical, will depend on if you are a company driver, L/O, or O/O. Company is covered since these are Prime doctors. I believe the Redt have to pay their copay.
Other Prime drivers may have better info regarding the difference.
I also think most larger carriers use this same format.

I'm pretty sure most companies will give you a physical when you get there. For free. I had one at prime during orientation, then another after my sleep apnea test. I didn't pay anything.
A physical disorder in which you have pauses in your breathing, or take shallow breaths, during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Normal breathing will usually resume, sometimes with a loud choking sound or snort.
In obstructive sleep apnea, your airways become blocked or collapse during sleep, causing the pauses and shallow breathing.
It is a chronic condition that will require ongoing management. It affects about 18 million people in the U.S.
I work for Werner, and I got one, when I went to orientation, and the last one I needed, my FM at the time made an appointment at a local "doc in the box" walk in center that Werner uses, and the company paid for it.... most walk ins here in CT that do DOT's charge about $70 for DOT Physicals... And if your company doesn't pay/reimburse you for it, I think you can write it off as a business expense on your taxes, but check with whoever does your taxes....

I drive for Werner too, and I just get myself routed to a terminal when mine are due and get them done there.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

I can get a physical for free with my health insurance. When applying for CDL school or a company-paid CDL program is it possible for me to just get my own physical and drug screen done or do they require you to pay the 100 dollars or so to have it done in-house?
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
