I've been wondering this myself but never got around to asking. Having a little crockpot or something would be great but you need to clean it. If you stay out weeks at a time you can't just wait till you get home. I guess you can but that'd be gross. Buying a bunch of bottled water seems like a pain and possibly not cost effective, even if using gallon jugs.

Most cook in their trucks while at truck stops or in rest areas. Those at truck stops go in and wash the dishes and for those that can't will be near a truck stop the next day and do it then.

I used to use the microwaves in the truck stops, although some of those nights it got real chilly outside so it would suck walking to the truck stop with food in hand and temperatures in the teens with a serious windchill. I would wash my dishes in the sink in the shower, and would use plastic utensils and plates. If I did wash my dishes in the truck, I would use dishwashing soap and a bottle of water and wash them in a plastic bag with a paper towel and throw it away.

Go in where at the truck stop? A Kitchen Sink? Bathroom? Shower?

Mark, you can always tell which people in the truck stops are drivers by going in the bathroom. The drivers are the ones you see standing at the bathroom sink in their underwear taking a bath, or washing out their coffee pot at the sink. You'll see some crazy stuff in those bathrooms! confused.gifrofl-1.gifrofl-1.gifconfused.gif

Sink in the bathroom. AT most you will only have two to three dishes at most. Hopefully you are smart and get mostly throw a way paper plates and bowls

I have a microwave in my truck and use the dish the microwave meal comes in. Plastic spoons, etc are very handy. Sometimes, I wipe out those plastic dishes with paper towel and wet wipe and re-use it to heat canned food in. I do use small amounts of bottled water to rinse out a thermal coffee cup. Paper towels and wet wipes are your friend in the truck. I use Starbucks instant coffee which tastes great. It is a bit more expensive at about $.80 a pop, but still much cheaper than the Truck Stop coffee (unless you use your rewards points to buy it). Have yet to wash any dishes in the truck or any other place, but that's just me.

I sometimes eat canned chili. And I wrap the dirty dish in a plastic bag and take it with me in the shower. Put extremely hot water in it and let it sit for a little then I jet spray it with the shower head. That's my trick and it works nicely.
