It's been 14 days with my trainer, he's a cool dude but 14 days living in a truck is 14 days living in a truck haha. I'm trying not to count the days till I'm issued my own truck, but its tough when you're a pretty independent person like myself.

Haha I know how you feel. That last week will be hell for you. Me and my trainer got along fine but that last week we just wanted to fight each other haha!

Yeah, teaming with someone is brutal. Most people can't stand it, myself included. But before long you'll be on your own and the time spent teaming will simply be memories you'll be working hard to block out of your mind. They'll kinda give ya the shivers...

Haha I believe it! The first two weeks have actually come n gone pretty quickly. But yeah u know what I'm saying haha. Keeping it in constant prayer, I'll have my own truck soon enough. What did they end up issuing u? Most have been getting freightliners after upgrading

Haha yes indeed, I could never see myself going team unless I end up marrying someone who could dig that. I say that now as I'm single haha. The thought sounds good

Having gone through military basic training, I reckon if I can get through that, I can deal with a driver trainer/mentor for a few weeks. Living in the same room as forty or fifty people that complain about how bad they have it, while being barked at and abused by the DI, taught me what is possible to endure from other folks. All but a couple I went through it with made it, so hang in there, you can do it. Keep that solo truck in your sights.

Hang in there BC Nation, it will all be over soon enough. I think it was Brett that told me, and it has turned out to be true, you'll probably never even see that person again. I had a crazy training experience, you just kind of have to go through it with your own sense of how to filter out some of the garbage. I really did learn some great things from my trainer, but at the same time he was driving me crazy so badly that I seriously wanted to give up on it at one point.

It's one of those steps that has to be taken to get through to the real job. So take it in stride, and next thing you know they'll be handing you a set of keys, and turning you loose!

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I think the freightliners look good in black and grey especially. I'm driving one now with my trainer, I like them but am hoping to get lucky with a peterbilt but any truck will be like a trophy to me. Really appreciate this site, great group of people and perspectives

Let me guess your hoping to get lucky and get one of the old school long nose petes'? Probably not going to happen since they don't make them anymore and since they get some of the worst fuel mileage most companies are turning away from Petes and KWs altogether.
