Great Answer!

We have a List Of Items To Bring To CDL School, Training, and OTR so check that out.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Same answer as Regino D's:

I got a Harbor Freight LED flashlight that has an aluminum case, not plastic. It's only about 5" long so I store it next to the door.

It's nice to have an air gauge. You need one that goes over 120 lbs., and has a two-way head on it. (Hint: there's a "straight" head and a "bent" head. Get the bent head one.)

For bumping tires and other useful things get the 2 lb ball pein hammer at Harbor Freight.

Don't forget leather palm work gloves.

Also Vice GripsĀ® a few rags. If you're company lets you carry engine fluids, get 3 heavy gallon plastic bottles (not milk jugs - too thin.) Bleach or anti-freeze or cooking oil type jugs. At the shop you fill them with motor oil, coolant and windshield wash fluid.
