Dont go to walmart. You can get a better one at your local truckstop. I did the same thing when i went through school and it helped me so that is a great idea.
Walmart. This one is by Ertl, (yeah, just one 'E') who makes collector quality die cast. Truck stop stamped steel at truck stop prices - nahh.
$12-14 or so.
The wheels roll, but to steer you need to "twist" the truck so it drives in a natural way. Get some straws to make your back-up slot.
Didn't see that one at Walmart. Going to a truck stop now but don't know what to expect. I'm also looking online for remote control ones.....I saw a video on YouTube of a Tamyia semi in action...wow! The lights, flashers, the engine roaring...drop/pin the trailer....but they're freakin expensive!!! (Over $1000)
Going to toy R us as well! lolll
Well, didn't find anything with the front wheels steering. They roll, but they don't steer. :(

You need to manually turn/steer the cab. Us guys can do that, and make a "brrrm brrm" sound that means 450 hp. at the same time!

Ya, I can do that too!! But I wanted a truck with steering wheels! I'm picky like that!! lol
I did the same thing and had trouble finding one with moving steers. The fixed wheeled version will still do à good job teaching you about backing. Truck stops are full of toy trucks right now with the holidays coming up. As for the $1000 r/c trucks, for a MRE $450 you can get the same truck in a kit but it'll take some skill to assemble.

The point of getting a toy truck with steering wheels was to help me understand what happens when you turn the steering wheel left or right, which way the trailer will go. THe R/C ones do just that, but you're right....I don't think I want to start trying to assemble that just to get it cheaper...lol

I'm about to go to Walmart to look for a toy truck, to see if I can use it to practice/figure out how it will back up...lol any of you did that? If the toy truck front wheels don't move however, isn't it useless?
