You could save space on the towel and bring something else instead unless you don't trust the truck stop towels.

I don't think terminals provide towels. Will use truck stop towels but who knows if we ever will stay at a terminal.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Thanks for posting this. I've been scouring diaries trying to get an idea of where I should splurge and where I can save.

My list is similar, but I bought a 20°F sleeping bag, a fleece sleeping bag liner, and a faux-silk sleeping sack. I'm trying to stay comfy in all weather, as I gather it's an unspoken biggie. They can be layered as needed, or even zipped together with the ones I bought my team mate.

My brother got us these for Christmas: tire pressure gauge, tire tread gauge, binoculars, motor-carrier's atlas & RFID-blocking travel pouch. I'm also bringing a notebook with calculator for each of us.

I have yet to get an eye exam with an optometrist, but when I do I'll be asking for my prescription in writing (he/she is ethically bound to comply) and I'll get my pupilary distance noted by any available optician wandering around up-selling the gullible. I'll buy sturdy lightweight Rx sunglasses through them, ask them to put new lenses in the frames I bought from them a year ago, and then ...! I'll take my prescription to Zenni Optical and buy 1 or 2 pairs for ridiculously cheap. I hope you're taking notes. This is my favorite hack.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is not required every day, but some locations will require you to wear some or all of this:

* Class II safety vest ($7-$14)
* Safety glasses ($2-$10)
* Hard hat ($12-$18)
