The agility test depends on the company... Some don't do one while others have more intense test.... Its not part of the dot physical

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Purpose of the agility test is to make sure you can perform job-required functions - AND - be able to do them without inuring yourself.

While some people might not see driving as "dangerous" per se' - slipping off a wet catwalk, or the top of a slick tarped load, can put you down for the count.

Add to this - the company really doesn't want to put someone out there, that's a Workman Comp claim, just waiting to happen.

Dave, look up Schneider videos on YouTube. I think you'll see one where the agility test is done.

I'm 54 & did it last year to get hired. You can too.

They only do it when you get hired. I just had my second annual physical and there was no agility test.

I understand your concern, but remember, they've had people pass the physical before arriving and then come to find out they were getting high before they showed up.

Sometimes the best employers are the most picky.

Ok I get it.I am freaking out personally I have no problem getting on a stairmaster or treadmill I can walk 4 or 5 miles a day with no problem hell I love excercise and even worry about getting to excercise while Im on the road but my issue is I have high blood pressure and I worry about them checking my blood pressure not just for the physical but during the agility test of all the recruiters I spoke to not one mentioned anything about an agility test maybe Im worrying more then I should I just think its a bit ridiculous to expect a truck driver to sit and drive 11 hours a day and still be in shape when your always sitting how much time do you have to excercise and stay in shape how often xan you go to a gym even if you had time to go to a gym when are you bear a gym to go there

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Dave, I had high BP issues as well. It's a one-time thing. You'll be okay.

Remember rule #1; you're applying for the job up until you're hired. Keep a POSITIVE attitude, kill 'em with kindness and they'll love ya.

And remember, freaking out can be a cause of high blood pressure. Take a few yoga classes, meditate, and woooosssssaahhhhhhhh. If Old school, and Errol can pass the tests at their ancient ages, you can too.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
