Have my driving test next Tues and if all goes well I'll be hauling milk! I'm really fascinated with tankers and can't believe I have a chance to drive one right outta school. I've read on here how they're a different animal as far as timing and shifting, and am looking forward to the challenge. I'll keep y'all posted as I go along.

Didn't know companies hired recent grads for tanker gigs. How'd you pull that off?

Congrats!

We had another driver a while back who started out at a dairy driving a tanker full of "angry milk" as he called it.

Schneider has a few openings in my area for tanker, listed as "all cdl" which includes recent grads.

But I imagine that Tanker positions for fresh face rookies is few and far between. I am not sure I would want to drive a tanker myself. It is too close to the possibility of realizing my greatest fear about driving.

Congrats on the job, Sonnydogg

Stay safe

I think the fact that I live only 5 miles from their offices helped. I've studied a lot about the sloshing effect as you make turns, accelerate and stop. Angry fits that effect, lol. The company also has a school, and is very accomadating as far as the learning curve is concerned. Safety is #1 to them and they'll work with me as long as it takes. They have 50 drivers and 1 on 1 is important to them.

Have fun you're in for a ride remember be easy on the brakes because the surge from milk will rock your world brother, also remember the guys we work with at these milk bays can be ****s and are very anal about things. Good luck out there and practice backing as much as you can because some of these milk bays can be a bit tricky to get into.
