If a company looking to hire someone wanted the new driver to take a sleep study, would they accept one that was done recently per request of your doctor performing your DOT physical?

Prime didnt. They gave all new physicals and sleep tests

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

On the subject of Sleep Apnea and CPAP's, what if I bring my own machine? I've been using one for about 10 years now, got the mask and everything.

If I walk in telling them I have this, will they still require me to do the whole study? Trying to sleep with more wires in your head than R2D2 ain't easy even if you don't have sleep apnea..

my application was put on hold until I send in my paper say I use it 70% of 30 days total and then I'm good

Sleep Apnea:

A physical disorder in which you have pauses in your breathing, or take shallow breaths, during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Normal breathing will usually resume, sometimes with a loud choking sound or snort.

In obstructive sleep apnea, your airways become blocked or collapse during sleep, causing the pauses and shallow breathing.

It is a chronic condition that will require ongoing management. It affects about 18 million people in the U.S.

CPAP:

Constant Positive Airway Pressure

CPAP is a breathing assist device which is worn over the mouth or nose. It provides nighttime relief for individuals who suffer from Sleep Apnea.

Paul,

It will depend on the company you are attempting to hire on to? It would be best to ask your recruiter this one. As each company plays by their own rules. That being said, you stand a better chance of not having to retake the sleep study if you have a recordable device and have a copy of the previous 30-90 days usage showing a minimum of 4 hrs of usage each night. I do this prior to my physical every year and have been thanked by the Dr. for doing so each time.

Hi Paul, I have been using a CPAP for about 15 yrs now and told Prime I had my own machine but I still had to take another sleep study and get a new machine because mine wasn't able to transmit the usage data so they could monitor me on the road... The Study and New Machine was only about 2k via payroll deductions for a yr but if yours has the modem option they may let you slide without the new one
