Especially in the Horse Shoe Pit Area! Petros (and other truck stops) are adding them for Professional Drivers to exercise, but I don't think they want them being used as a Pet Relief Zone.

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I'm sure you ladies are subjected to a lot of things that really are unacceptable. Wonder if those guys ever think what if that was my daughter, sister, wife or mom.

Don't assume any female at a truck stop must be a lot lizard. I can't tell you the number of times I would be asked if I was "working."

Answering "No, it's my husband's shift right now, I'm on a 34" (even if you're solo) shuts those guys up in a real hurry.

In a similar vein, don't tell me the counter is for drivers only. I can read, I know the counter is for drivers only...that's why I'm sitting at it.

Exactly. I also get ticked off when bobtails take our parking spaces.

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Show respect to the truck stop employees. There is no need to ever be rude to anyone working their. I hate when I hear someone being disrespectful/rude to an employee for no reason. Treat people the way you want to be treated. I'm pretty sure thAts the first thing you learn in kindergarten. Also don't park the hood of your long nose Pete right outside of someone's sleeper. I had one guy who was bobtail park about 6 inches away from my sleeper window like that. Very unnecessary.

One of my pet peeves, are reefer drivers with a running unit, who insist on parking right beside the CAT scale speaker, so that neither the cashier, nor the driver weighing a load can communicate effectively.

Personally, I think the spot right beside the CAT scale, should be reserved for flatbed drivers, who are too lazy to back into a designated parking spot between two yellow lines. rofl-3.gif

CAT Scale:

A network of over 1,500 certified truck scales across the U.S. and Canada found primarily at truck stops. CAT scales are by far the most trustworthy scales out there.

In fact, CAT Scale offers an unconditional Guarantee:

“If you get an overweight fine from the state after our scale showed your legal, we will immediately check our scale. If our scale is wrong, we will reimburse you for the fine. If our scale is correct, a representative of CAT Scale Company will appear in court with the driver as a witness”

I actually never got this from other drivers (maybe the work boots were a dead giveaway), but I did have two cops in NJ watch me go from the truck stop to my truck, after giving me a somewhat flip comment. They were surprised when I geared up and got out. Of course, that was quite a few years back, when it wasn't as common to see solo women driving. But, honestly, there's never a reason for disrespect. Men should treat women the way they'd want their mom treated. Women should treat men with the respect they'd want given to their dad.

Lots of good ones here. How about turn your 4 ways on when your looking for a spot. I guess that goes along with the Daytona comment.

Seen one guy start to get his line up, and another dumbass come out right between him and the spot. The driver didn't have his flashers on, and the other guy was driving a U-haul.

It still baffles me (albeit I'm a green horn) how someone would just pull into a spot, thus leaving him no choice but to back into traffic blindly.

One last thing. ..... Shower shoes in the showers. You don't want to be stepping in someone else's shower babies.

Baffle:

A partition or separator within a liquid tank, used to inhibit the flow of fluids within the tank. During acceleration, turning, and braking, a large liquid-filled tank may produce unexpected forces on the vehicle due to the inertia of liquids.

Meh, I had them when I first started and ended up getting rid of them. I don't worry about it anymore, the showers get cleaned and it's really no different than a hotel shower. Haven't had a problem with athlete's foot, either. I know I'm probably the exception though, because I know many other drivers swear by them.

However, I have seen drivers walking barefoot through the truck stop, and that's where I draw the line. Yuck!
