I meant to say:
Can I throw and go OR will I risk....
auto-correct
I'd throw em but go easy on it because they aren't going to get as tight s they need to be and you don't want to risk tearing anything up.
When you had broken links on the chains be sure to use bungees to secure them, don't just let them fly all over the place. For example, hook one end of the bungee to the end of the broken chain link, now loop it around the opposite side chain (the one that circles the tire all around), and pull it back and hook the other end of the hook on the bungee to the broken link. Try picturing it, it works wonders.
Bailing wire them its a good temp fix
Thank you. Those were great suggestions. And I'll try the bungee cords next time. The difficulty with those ideas is that South Fork and del Norte, Colorado are tiny towns with not much more than a stop sign or two. No supplies. Nothing opened between 6:00pm and 8:00am, anyway. Nada.
Anywho, with some encouragement, LOL, I decided to throw and go.
I put the bad chain on the passenger-side drive that does the least amount of work and the other three on the other drives.
It wasn't that bad getting chains on and Wolf Creek Pasa is sooooo beautiful, it was worth it.
It turned out to have lots of snow, ice, some white-out, and blizzard conditions. I wasn't worried about the drive as much as the potential fines and penalties.
That's kinda' funny, now that I think about it.
My receiving people postponed me 'til tomorrow, <@#$%&*!!>
but I survived the chains.
Now I know I can throw chains (by myself, without parents) and if the law is still up, I can do it again tomorrow morning.
BTW, I have a reputation for wearing my cargo shorts and low-quarter steel-toed Keen hiking shoes most of the winter, when others are in their Carhardt's... Gotta maintain that local, mountain girl attitude.
For the record, I DID throw ...in my shorts (WITH flatbedder's boonie hat on, Old School)
Thanks for everything, Gentlemen.

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

I appreciate the humor- Trucktographer. CW McCall is something else.
Good to see that you are still around. Have you thought about looking into some of the construction jobs? The season is starting. The state flower is in full bloom here.

Yes. There's a reason it's legendary.

Help.
I'm at the bottom of Wolf Creek Pass. Chain law is up. I'm pulling for True Value for the day. Just a temp run so I didn't know their chains weren't perfect till those morning.
It's too late to talk about my pre trip. They were in piles in the side compartments. I counted 4 sets and rolled out.
One set has 3 broken cross chains (I don't know what else to call them. The strip of chain that goes across the tire).
I thought each set of chains had to have at least 9 of these strips of chain.
Can I throw and go out will I risk a ticket/dangerous driving?
Help.
