Road Record

On This Day

Monday 9th April 1917

The 'Wingfoot Express', a Packard Model E 5-ton truck sponsored by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, established the first interstate trucking route with regular nonstop runs from the Akron tire factory in Ohio to the company's tire fabric mill in Connecticut.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

The 740 mile trip took 28 days to complete and was decreased down to 80 hours within a year.

Yeah, Daniel, don't make things up. I drove oxen before you were born. That was before they knew how to make mules.

Oh I'm sure you were side by side when Benjamin Franklin discovered that lightning is electrical in 1759.

Indeed, but look at the bright side, at least we can date Errol back to historical dates. Can't say the same thing for Old School, he goes so far back in time history wasn't being recorded yet.
