Have any of you taken US-89A in Arizona? I'm assuming it's off limits from the looks of it, but it's not technically listed in my atlas as off-limits.

Heading from Flagstaff AZ to Hurricane UT. It's either that or take 89 up into UT then cut back down using that little segment of 89A to AR389.

What did your GPS lady suggest?

US 89 is a main road. I've been on it from Cameron south - beautiful trip. Then you can ride on the Navajo Bridge, see the Vermilion Cliffs. Scenery to make your eyes pop .

Your alternate is Kingman/ Las Vegas/ I-15.

Thanks Errol, GPS lady wants me to take 89 and avoid 89A except where it cuts back down. I think that's what I will do unless someone here has personally taken 89A with good results. I'd be surprised though, since 89A looks like it's got some pretty tight curves.

I know for certain that 89A going south out of Flagstaff through Sedona is definitely NOT for trucks!

You mean I cant go through a state park in a big rig? People should be more appreciative of us truckers and let us camp out where it's pretty!!

Sorry Deb, just read what I wrote--hopefully that didn't come across as insulting..was meant as a joke. Anyways thanks for the route advice. I'm guessing it must not be for trucks up north either.

I have driven 89a in my car took my wife and kid thought there on a vacation. There were trucks on it at that time I don't remember any no truck signs or anything like that there are definitely some fun,Turns. I thing the worst were coming out of the vermilion cliffs and climbing up the bluff, but I would take a truck thought there. beautiful views, stove pipe wells is a fun place to visit.

No worries, Paul, I laughed at your comment! Personally, I think we should have access to all the National Parks too!

Hey thanks! I figured somebody on here had to have driven it at some point! I can't decide which one to take. I'm on the verge of being late for this load, so I'm trying to take the route that will get me there faster. 89A has fewer miles (it's 18 miles shorter), but with all those curves (and hills I'm guessing) I'm not sure it will be any faster. What do you think?
