Just wondering if anyone has suffered or has hopefully been praised by what they have said in the forum from past present or future employers/companies. A for instance might be something like but not limited to wages or company policies that are not public knowledge. It is in a way confidential information not intended for public consumption. Another may be bashing the company by negativity which may or may not be justified.

Not that I mind such information ( ranting would be an exception which is not cool ) because it is valuable stuff to know. Just another paranoid American here.

I've wondered about the same thing, and tried to be careful how much info I post, but lately I've posted more than enough for my manager to know it's me, if he reads this forum (which I kind of doubt). But yeah, I would definitely be worried about posting confidential info or negative things a company might object to.

BTW, this is actually my second user name on here (I'm not active on the first one any more) because I posted too much info on the first one.

Private sector "big brother" is too cheap and miserly to do that, especially in America. Most Americans are lucky to even get a 25 cent raise once a year. Government big brother takes 75 years to release someone's emails. So I'd say no, it hasn't happened unless you use your real name.

California does not allow employers to prohibit employees from their wages. A few other states have similar laws, but even if your state does not have such a law I'd find it hard to believe that a trucking company has the resources or incentive to scour internet forums for employees who are disclosing "confidential information".

If they did waste resources on such a fruitless task, what would they do? Nothing I signed at either company I've worked for obligated me to keep pay or policies secret, so retaliation would be pointless and potentially very damaging for them. Not to mention it'd be hard to prove the actual identity of anyone posting (I'm guessing Bullwinkle J. Moose is not your real name, BTW say hi to Rocky for me) without a subpoena, which most judges would not grant given the circumstances. Trucking for the most part isn't like some other industries where trade secrets are a big deal (at least not on the driver side of things).

They never had been a Big Bro. No company will be trolling this site, especially since most members have "Not Their Real Names" here. It is not necessary for them to look for such insignificant posts.

You have simply been subjected to a doublethink maneuver posted by Bullwinkle J Moose. I will have to get Bullwinkle back to the J Ward where he is permanently assigned. There is no more paranoia. This is Trucking Truth, after all!

I'm coming out of 30 years in the computer industry. The general rule years ago was "loose lips sink ships" don't say anything that could compromise security or divulge company or personal information. But today with social media a lot of people just say way too much. I go on face book and find out your pets name. Then I find out your email address. First thing I use to crack your password is to try your pets name or a few variations of it. A piece of information here another there then all of a sudden it's another case of stolen identity.

Like Kurt and Blue Hotel says you can always use an auxiliary name to mask you're identity. And C.S's point of never signing a disclosure agreement pretty much would keep you out of trouble with a judge.

I'd just hate to see someone get shut out of a job or something because of what may be said especially myself, a little food for thought about life on the information super highway and not giving the keys away to the city so to speak by blabbing too much personal information.

The forum would not be as good as it is without the free flow of information that people talk about here that's for sure!

Last time I saw Rocky he went on a cruise with Capt. Wrong Way Peach Fuzz and never returned, hahaha. Bulwinkle was my CB Handle When I was a kid. About the time I Got my first C.W. McCall Album "Wolf Creek Pass". I have a jeep wrangler ( TJ not a CJ like he drove, bummer ) so in order to live in the tradition of old C.W. I need to start driving Semi. Some dreams refuse to die!

Funny,

At my last job I'd talk to the people at the Holiday Inn in Olive Branch MS every week When They called in for their new password. Nice people and the cities name is totally cool!
