Passed all my required tests (general knowledge, air brakes, combination & tanker), plus got doubles/triples! Now all I have to do is focus on getting through the simulator classes and learn the pre-trip. Thank you for the High Road program!

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

Thanks! Boy, today has been a day of highs and lows... Last night in the first simulator class, I caught on fine and felt really good about what I knew. Tonight was a whole different story. Double clutching is tough! Makes it worse that I'm good at driving a stick shift car. LOL I got so frustrated that I had to go to the bathroom, shed a few tears, give myself a pep talk and get my head on straight. After I went back to class, I did better. I just hope I catch on well enough over the next two days.

Double Clutch:

To engage and then disengage the clutch twice for every gear change.

When double clutching you will push in the clutch, take the gearshift out of gear, release the clutch, press the clutch in again, shift the gearshift into the next gear, then release the clutch.

This is done on standard transmissions which do not have synchronizers in them, like those found in almost all Class A trucks.

... Double clutching is tough!

Think/hum the Adams Family theme song while building RPMs and clutching on the 2 hard beats. 😄
