Yeah, but not getting along with my manager is different than not running hard enough.

And after rereading your last paragraph it's funny you mentioned paranoia earlier.

There were a couple threads I started a while back wondering if certain circumstances were due to my manager having it in for me, and I was told I was being paranoid, that's why I mentioned that earlier. And it was in one of those threads that someone decided to announce that the problem was that I wasn't managing my time correctly, which I don't believe is true, but that's why I posted about it above.

But I wan't talking about you, I thought you were saying that you were also noticing that things were a little slow right now.

Nope I was the one saying it's nearly the end of the quarter lots of miles.

But it could be a multitude of things ranging from you or something you did, to your company and it's other drivers. Did to many show up late for pick up or delivery and lose the contract they had with whatever company.

Did you dispatcher **** your fleet manager.

Have you spoke to our fleet manager or whatever the title of the person above your dispatcher?

It's near the end of the quarter... Lots of miles. I said it in another comment earlier. Today is the first day in weeks my truck has sat for 18 in between loads... It's definitely time for it.

Where in the above did you gleen that I was saying you weren't running hard enough?

And by definition of slow frieght does that mean your running constantly?

there bottled water people who provide a lot of our work canceled a lot of loads last week and still aren't giving us as much this week, but I have no way of confirming that and I'm not sure I believe it.

You are still thinking too much. If you are the truck driver, and your company has dispatchers and sales/customer service people, why do you need to "confirm" business changes?

Shipping volume changes week to week, month to month. I know, bottled water in the middle of summer should be gang busters, but as the truck driver the thing you need to confirm is your freight bills.

I haul paper for Georgia Pacific. Like your situation, some weeks I get the same route only with an extra day or two for delivery. I don't like it because I want to be driving as much as I can, too. But I'm not concerned whether it's "me" or "GP" or if my DM is messing with me. I just drive and get the delivery in.

Try to enjoy your job. Kurt. Don't go building fantasies to explain everything that happens. You're part of a business, and there's no time to do anything but do your business as best you can.

I think it's one of those things, yeah. There's some problem between our company and the water people, apparently,and my manager said that but I didn't know whether to believe it until the other driver confirmed it. And my manager either didn't know what it was, or (more likely I think) wouldn't tell me the details. I was going to talk to the next level up manager, but haven't done it yet. At this company, that's something you normally don't do unless you have a problem with your manager.

Anyway, might be time to think about switching positions within the company, if I can find something that will keep me moving more.

No, I said that it wasn't directly in response to what you posted, although I can see that it looks way. My fault.

I don't understand your last sentence. I usually work 5 1/2 days then get a reset at home. This week I ran 4 1/2 days and was sent home early, being told that freight is slow. The truth is that once I saw my settlement (after I started this thread) I realized that I actually didn't have too bad a week, and I got 2 days off, which most divers would probably think was a big win, it's just that I have nothing to do with 2 days off, I'd rather be driving.

I don't *need* to confirm business changes, I wanted to confirm that my manager wasn't using that as an excuse. Yeah, I'm paranoid, it's been well established. :)

Even so, if it turns out that there's some business change that limits the miles I'll get for some time to come, I'd like to know that too.

I actually do enjoy the job, but I think it gives me too much time to think, and I naturally wonder why stuff happens the way it does.

Kurt you crack me up with your "paranoia" haha. Does sound like maybe some issue between your company and the bottled water company. Who knows? You're dedicated right? It's very possible another position in your company might have more consistent freight, but it does sound like you normally move pretty well. How long has the slow down been going on? A few months or a few weeks?

Yeah, I start these threads then it gets out of hand. I should probably just ask the question then thank people for their responses. Anyway, it's been a few weeks, or maybe a month. Since you asked, here's one thing that fed my paranoia: the first week of July I was very busy and had one of my best weeks, but my manager made a point of telling me a few times that it was freight from another, I don't know, "line of business" I think they call it. Then this week when I asked about why things were slow I was told things were slow in and out of Maine. So then I asked if that was true, then why was I getting *only* loads in and out of Maine, why not keep me out and not send me back until the day I'm supposed to get my home time. I was told that the line of business I'm in only does the stuff in and out of Maine. But I've done other things plenty of times, so I don't get why now it suddenly sounds like I'm not allowed. And I previously asked about switching to work for that other business, so I was thinking maybe my manager was trying to get me to switch by making me think the other job would get me more miles. Which might actually be true, I'm not sure. That's probably a question for the next level manager.
