Hi everyone

Finally making some steps towards where I want my career to take me. I have been doing some research and narrowed it down to a few companies but mostly the ones that I've had other people recommend to me and the companies that are close to me.

Here's the main one that I am looking into it is Us Xpress - does anybody have feedback or experience with it? Really anything helps. This is the company I am talking about in case some don't know - Us Express just trying to make the right decision. I know a lot of you go on here for help and everyone on here knows what they are talking about.

Thank you everyone.

Us xpress like many of these other companies are fairly similar. I am guessing you live in Tennessee? A couple things to consider are ease of hometime, how long training is, and the freight lanes they run (like i40, i90, etc.) Really just compile some things in a list that are important to you and see if this company is a fit for what you want. Good luck!

A husband/wife (well soon-to-be) team and a team of brothers that went to my CDL school all went to US Xpress and they love it there. The h/w team is running basically a dedicated from Olive Branch MS to California and back.

Their equipment is nice, they have a great training program plus tuition reimbursement, nice pet/rider policy, and seem to have good miles available. They are a fully automatic fleet though, if that's something you want to avoid.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Awesome, thank you both for the feedback I appreciate it. Yes I am in TN.

I have heard the equipment is very good, too, glad to know that it's confirmed. Not super worried about the fully automatic fleet, I can manage that.

Thank you both, I appreciate you answering.

Hi captain,

Going to United TDS in Murfreesboro which is close to me, so far enjoying it. Would reccomend to people in area and some older guys like me who are getting back in the saddle with this new career choice.

Oh Ok, cool. How long is your course?

Well here's the thing, it was a course advertised as being possibly done in 3-4 weeks. However now that I am in it I understand that they encourage people to take their time with it as needed and they will assess whether or not you may need more time. To be safe I am taking closer to 4-5 weeks, I can handle that with my life and I think it is the right thing to do. But just me personally I think the longer the course the better.

That's good. If you're paying for it, I would take as much time as you need
