I'm happy to know for sure its over. The whole thing was grossly unfair, having to pay almost $1k to fight a ticket I should have never been issued in the first place after a car hit me. My company is self insured to the first $350k and received no claims so apparently the driver who hit me when attempting to squeeze between me and another car wasn't looking to hit the "Ghetto Lottery". I seriously doubt they even had insurance for that rustbucket. To this day I have no information on them whatsoever.
The Lockland Ohio Mayor's Court refused to dismiss the ticket and wanted $135 to change it to a non moving equipment violation. There is absolutely NOTHING about it on my MVR after 4.5 months. The attorney was unsure whether anything would show up on my MVR in my home state or not. Basically they just wanted to extract money dishonestly.
An MVR is a report of your driving history, as reported from your state Department of Motor Vehicles. Information on this report may include Drivers License information, point history, violations, convictions, and license status on your driving record.
Things like this make me wonder if that cdl protection attorney plan is worthwhile. Would it be beneficial to look into something like that? Like that us legal services. Anyone ever use that?

I went back and read the original thread. Great news Sue.
I've always been hesitant to buy supplemental policies. After reading this, I think my new career warrants some legal insurance. I used to carry an umbrella policy when I worked as a Property Manager for the State, for obvious reasons.
As of that day, I have subscribed to a legal protection plan called CDL Defender from U, S. Legal based in Jacksonville, FL. They helped me find a transportation attorney infound me who helped me fight to keep my MVR clear, although it wasn't covered because it was preexisting, hence Michael Yemc's $775 fee because an accident was involved. The potential for liability (even though I wasn't at fault) against me and my employer was huge. The officer who wrote the citation actually let the other party go before ever talking to me and mishandled the whole thing. I pay ~$36/month so even a year's cost would have been cheaper than paying for that single incident.
I don't know if they're better than any other legal protection plan or not, they were simply the first people I could actually contact THAT night and speak to a real person who found me an attorney within 2 days. I never had to appear in court personally and my attorney handled everything while I continued to do my job and try to focus on doing it safely and attempt to put it out of my mind. I called like 5 different companies, some of whom I NEVER heard back from. I was so shookup from the situation that I parked at the next truck stop and just bawled for hours, terrified my company would blame me, I'd get fired, or worse. My DM and safety were sooo kind about the whole thing and told me to break as long as I needed to, in order to "get myself together" so I would be safe to drive. They weren't the least concerned my load was late.

See this sign?
Lawyers smell money in deep pockets - not the driver's pocket, the company's! But you are the rug at the door they will step on to get the big bucks. I fork over $7+ every week so that doesn't happen to me.

I ran my MVR report today and Im happy to say that spending that insane amount $775 for an attorney + $135 fine paid off.
My MVR is still spotless after being hit by a car and getting railroaded into an unjust ticket for "Reasonable Control" in what my Safety Director said was a "bogus money scam" by the Lockland Ohio Mayors Court.
