I didn't run it over, but when I was doing my morning PTI yesterday, I saw something odd on the tire of the truck next to me.

If it had been my truck, I would have had this tire replaced.

Wow! That's the first time I've seen that.

I don't think you'd have to worry about replacing the tire. I doubt those would penetrate all the way through or really weaken it enough to worry about.

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I try to remember to look for severely damaged tires on trucks parked next to me because blowouts at close range are dangerous. Even if I'm not in front of a bad tire in a neighboring truck when it blows, it'll probably be time to change the underwear.

I know it's unlikely, but I'd rather take a couple extra seconds to be safe.

I always stay back like 400 to 500/ft and one day BOOM a tire in front of me blew... Never saw that before. Thank god I was back far enough or the debris would have hit my windshield, it blew up THAT high.

But interesting you do that. I never thought about it before... Now I'm gonna find myself checking and thinking of you hahha

Aww.... :-(

While you guys are talking about PTIs and blow outs, I'm thinking: "That poor little critter...." :-(

I really dont believe a tire would blow out while a truck is parked. Sure, ive seen them develop a bulge overnight, but actually blow out while parked? Nah i dont think so but someone feel free to correct me if im wrong.

Oh and what was that? A porcupine?

Sue, three times in my life I've witnessed a tire blow out with a loud bang, like an explosion, on a stationary vehicle. All three times this happened on big trucks. Tires can do some really strange things.

Thanks OldSchool. I never realized that could happen. Learning new things every day! Thanks again for the insight.
