Well, end result was, #5 cylinder went bad, apparently broke a valve that got.into the turbo, so new turbo will have to be put on, probably need the dpf system worked on, going to need 4 new batteries and likely a few other repairs.
They said it would be another week before it was ready to go, dm.called me.yesterday, told me they had rented me a car. Drove to San Antonio to pick up a truck on the drop yard. 2014 pro star. While it's not nasty inside, it does have left over gunk that will need to be cleaned out. Dm said to run a quick local load and bring the truck back to Dallas, they are going to have it sent to be detailed.
One thing I have noticed, the volvo I had was a year older and had about 160k more miles on it when I picked it up, bit it looked much more well maintained than this one does. Don't know if these internationals wear faster or if it's just been not taken care of.
Anyway, don't know how these pro star trucks drive, but I do think I'll enjoy the extra space. They are nice inside.
Man, that's a bummer. But at least they have you back up and running!
Sounds fun! Lol. Were you able to fit all your stuff in the rental?
Barely, and what's worse, dm rented me a full sized car, but all avis had available was a Chevy cruze. Got it all in there including the shovel and janitors broom......I wasn't leaving it behind..I paid for the shovel lol
I am in the same situation only i am stuck in Cheyenne with a derated truck. Picking up a rental car tomorrow to go home until they get me another truck. Mine was even in the shop for 10 days before this trip.
I know that is frustrating but....Im really glad you made it to the pilot to begin with. You could have had serious accident if still rolling.
But a rental? I would have needed a U haul I swear hahah. Glad u r safe tho
And where are u? I pick up in Dallas but have time on load.
Sitting in my sleeper here on the yard in hutchins.

Uggh, so, about 2 days ago, after having stayed the night at a truck stop, I started driving. About 2 hours into my drive, I noticed the truck started running really rough. Mainly when I would press the accelerator, or the cruise control would cause the truck to accelerate. When I would take my foot off the accelerator, the truck would smooth out.
I made a call to the shop and they ran a remote diagnostic and said that it appeared the turbo sensor was bad and was getting confused on when to kick in the turbo. After some conversations between my shop and my DM , they said just to keep going and make my deliveries and when I was empty, I would take it to the nearest terminal and they would fix it.
It wasn't about an hour or so after that, the DPF light started flashing and the truck message display said that a parked regen was needed. I pulled off into a rest area and tried to start a manual regen, but the truck wouldnt let me. Said parked regen conditions have not been met, basically not allowing me to do the regen. Called shop again, they said just keep driving and if I could make it to Ashland, they would have me pull off there and have it fixed.
Pulled back out onto the interstate and about 5 minutes later, the engine stop light turned on..then off...then on...then off again...then it turned on and stayed on. Display was saying soot level critically high and that the engine was severely derated. Pulled off at the nearest Pilot and got the truck parked and called breakdown and told them the situation.
This was about 7 or 8pm so the shop said to just sit tight til the morning and they would send a tow truck. Next morning showed up and about 7:30am, tow service called me, and about an hour later they showed up.
Got the truck to the mack/volvo dealer, parked the truck in their fenced in area and unhooked from the trailer. Got a hotel. Next day, called my DM and asked if they had an eta on the truck being ready, he said the next day. So, this is now "the next day" and I called over to the repair shop and inquired if it was going to be ready today. The service attendant said he didn't know where I got that information, but that it's going to need 4 new batteries, a new turbo, and some injectors replaced and that it wouldnt be done today, or tomorrow. Told me it could possibly be Friday.
So, looks like i'll be stuck in a hotel til Friday at least, possibly over the weekend if they can't get all the parts in and get it fixed by that time.
I told my DM, that if he wanted, I could just drop off that VNL 670 there and pick up one of those new 780s with all the chrome already installed.....he said he didn't think that would be possible..lol.
