Yesterday I was at the yard, and we now have two trucks we take on the road. A Freightliner Colombia and a International Prostar. I love driving the Freightliner. Just so much more fun to drive!

Closer gears, nicer seats and nicer beds to sit on while riding! We were pulling a 48 ft, trailer. I got to say I felt like a pro. Just little mistakes is what I have to work on lol.

What do you all think about the Freightliner Colombia?

My first truck assignment out of training was a temporary assignment on a Colombia. I hated it.

Well why did you hate it? Was it because it was a manual transmission or because of the design and seating?

Manual transmission doesn't bother me, I'll drive manual out automatic doesn't matter to me. The kw I have now is manual.

The hard clutch on the Colombia on the other hand, was hell on my knee. I've done quite a bit of damage to that knee over the years.

I also didn't like that lack of space on that thing. The sleeper was only the size of the bunk, no cabinet space. The only storage was beneath the bunk. I am in my truck for weeks at a time, I need more space to put stuff.

And the think i hashed the most about it, was the 3 1/2 weeks I had it, it was in the shop 4 times, the last of which was for a whole week.

Since then, I've had 2 Pete's, a cascadia, and my current t680. I like all of them better than that Colombia.

Now I'm not saying they are bad for everyone, but the one I had was definitely bad for me.

Wow, I guess I would probably hate that one too! The one we had just didn't seem like that bad, like you pointed out

. I was driving an International Prostar, and I swear I did not like shifting that truck as much as the Freightliner, because the gears were spread to far apart. Lonestars might be just a bit different. Lol.

To be absolutely straight with you about it all, I loved the Freightliner but I really wish we had an assortment of trucks, that we could work with. I mean why don't we have a Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, Volvo, Freightliner, Sterling, Mack. We have I think, like 5 or 6.confused.gif . I would think that would be a good thing to have several types to get used to. lol.

Most Companies buy in "Bulk" so to speak. They get a better deal if they buy 10 or 500 new Trucks at the same time, rather than one of these and two of those. Also, when they have several dozen or several hundred of the same Truck, depending on the size of the Fleet, it simplifies parts and service to a great degree!
