I could of sent a free form message or an ETA/PTA update macro. I was too busy wallowing and trying to figure out how I was gonna pull this off. Unfortunately I didn't plan ahead earlier in the day and sat the extra time at one of my earlier appointments that day. My delivery in the morning I only spent 1 hr and 15 mins. My first shipper I spent 1hr 46 mins. Should of took the extra 14 mins. That way I could of done a 2/8. That would of saved my hide. My second RCVR/shipper was a drop n hook. Even though there was a line, I was still in and out in 30 mins.
Okay...cool. Then I think you have a plan in the future to play this a little differently,...CYA. Even if you think you can make it...let them know you might not, so they can begin to reset customer expectations. The likely issue here...H.O.W. might have a penalty clause in their contract with this customer.
You know I am on Walmart...things happen beyond my control at a store. My personal SOP is to call if I think I am going to be on a delivery for more than an hour. I call and then send a follow-up macro so there is an electronic record of it, no question. I have never had to fall back on it...but at the very least it solidifies the trust bond I have with the DMs and planners.
You'll recover,...no doubt!
Shipper:
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
