I love the information. I love the encouragement. I love the people here even the ones I don't agree with. I love the high road cdl training manual.

I love that I can come here when/If I go to CDL school and go OTR. I can come here when I'm shut down for the night.

If i get my CDL this will probabl6 be one if my biggest accomplishments of my life, and I've had a few. I may ev3n put it above my four years of college as that wasn't hard, it just took 4 years. This is hard and it'll take serious determination. Your learning so much in a short period of time.

My greatest accomplishment to date is accepting Jesus as my Lord and getting clean and sober through Him. I give Him all the praise and glorty.

Ok I'll tone it down now, but it's the truth. If I get my CDL and drive truck it'll be my second biggest accomplishment surpassing my college degrees I have.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Hahaha. This Honor society college grad thought it was hard too. Because its not academic, its something that takes a lot of practice. it was very very frustrating, yet once you get it, you are setup for a job for life. and in a career with a great variety of opportunities.

you CAN do it. sooooo.....just stay level headed, and realize it will come. even backing.

heres my backimg story

Hope for a lousy backer

We are here for you. The right attitude and tenacity will get you through. In trucking one must be able to be fluid. At any time out here things can happen to mess up your plans. Here are a few, weather, traffic, truck/trailer problems. Just always remember to be safe. Good judgement goes a long way out here.

An old Navy Chief once told me if I could remember 2 simple things I would always be successful. Always be flexible and versatile.

This website has been extremely helpful to me in getting answers to some of my questions and happy that I am beginning to make some new friends along the way. I will continue to belong to this site as things progress and when I am finally able to achieve my goal of having a CDL and begin driving. I will be logging my journey along the way when it begins so I can hopefully help someone else as others have helped me.
