Try your CB with the antenna provided at first… A new antenna will also require a new antenna cable. If you’re on a budget, see how the existing antenna works. If you’re not happy with the range, you’ll find that antennas aren’t all that expensive. Like most things, you can pay a little, or you can pay a lot.

Nice job putting the CB in; it’s something every driver really ought to have.

If you have a company truck, they may not allow you to change the antenna. You should check with them.

Hey, that's great! CB radios are way undervalued with truckers today. I guess once we started using phones and the Web people failed to realize what a critical role a CB can play for safety, convenience, and entertainment out there.

Sure, just like a trip to the local mall you'll come across some people you'd rather not invite over for dinner but don't let that ruin the fun for ya. Do a lot of listening at first to get the lingo down a little bit and you'll see it's an awesome thing to have.

Oh, your first hint with the lingo - Don't call anyone "good buddy". They won't take it the way you expect.

Rofl

I learned this the hard way when driving my 'little rig' (Dodge dually with a 35ft trailer) back and forth between NJ and TN some years ago.

I had a cb in it and chatted with many drivers through the long nights....

Used that term by mistake early on and had some....well; shall we just say -'interesting' responses!!

Never used it again!! Once bitten twice shy!! 🤤

Oh.....I hasten to add...I never took anyone up on any of the offers!! 😜

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
