Well, it finally happened. I usually take extra care to make sure I don't go into violation, but as I was pulling into final and parking, as I went into my HOS tab to switch to Line 4 PTI, QC chirped, "Name is in violation of HOS."

First time ever.

Apparently, my company is in the proceess of being audited as well. Found that out when I called safety to tell them what happened.

Also sent a QC message to put on record as well.

****ed off at myself for cutting it to close.

Not much else to do but take the hit I suppose. :/

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

This happened to me a few years back. Don’t get too upset if it couldn’t be helped. My situation was only 1-2 minutes over as it happened pulling into parking spot. I explained the reasons and it was all okay.

Stay positive.

Are you not allowed to edit your start for the day and gain a few minutes back?

Save yourself a couple/few minutes every day by putting yourself into post trip inspection when you are at the stop sign off the exit ramp....then relax and take all the time you need to park.

if you mess up and violate by a couple of minutes as you did, note your log with something like "exceeded 11hr clock by just a couple of minutes while parking, it took longer to reach safe parking than I thought it would". No one is likely to get bent about a couple of minutes as long as it is a rare occurrence.
