Driving the wrong direction and being told where to park is totally different

Here's another tip involving letters: G.O.A.L. Did either of you Get Out And Look at the area before parking on it? I don't know how the trucking industry made it more than 80 years prior to GPS. PLEASE!!! What a poor excuse, "they told us to park". Seriously? If "they" told you to drive the wrong direction down the intetstate, would you claim this excuse as your defense that time, too?wtf-2.gif

I've been doing this for quite a while...never been told where to park, especially on a soft berm.

Alicia, something all new drivers need to learn is that YOU are the captain of the ship. if you allow dispatch to "force" you to do anything, then you will find yourself in lots of bad situations.

any decisions you make, it falls to the driver. going the wrong way and parking as per dispatch are not two different things. You parked in an unsafe location. its your fault. in the future you need to GOAL as stated and check out the areas. plenty of.locations have mud, gravel or soft shoulders that will sink.

as for the GPS, you should have a spiral.bound Rand McNally Atlas. GPS are tools, and even a Rand will send you down dirt roads and corm fields. One driver found himself on the Atlantic City boardwalk, while.another recent driver got.stuck in the forest in OR for 4 days. Do not rely on or act as.though the GPS would have prevented this.

Do you use the Trucker Path app for.parking locations? use that to find truck stops, rest areas, weigh stations for.parking. evem.walmarts.

im guessing you are working dor a small.company since you cannot access payroll or have a GPS?

are you teaming or is your fiancee the driver and you ride along?

What on Earth do you mean by saying the trucker's Rand needs to be fixed.. what's wrong with using an Atlas? You can buy one just about anywhere.. Amazon, Walmart, every truck stop. It never needs repairs and always works. A GPS should never be your first choice not should you depend on one. They're a great tool, but no substitute for reading road signs, trip planning, and using your Atlas.
