My fiance is making the move up to Tacoma WA. He's not a trucker but is towing a boat and driving his Toyota with his belongings packed in both. The idea is to secure with tarp and tie-downs. He thinks staying at safe truck stops is his best option to keep an eye on his load. I volunteered to help find some places. Where are good places to stop along this route? Thinking Lubbock, TX, then through Sante Fe, up through Salt Lake, Boise, and then through Spokane to Tacoma.

Have him download the "Trucker Path" app. He can see all truck stops, rest areas, Walmart, and what amenities each place has, as well as parking availability

Seeing that you listed Santa Fe, i wanted to say to stay away from Albuquerque, crime is pretty bad and a lot of out of towners have had their things stolen.

With all due respect, please ask your fiancee to not park overnight at truck stops. Truck parking is extremely limited, and his parking in a truck stop can and will deprive a driver who needs it a place to park for the night. There are plenty of places he could park a pickup towing a boat that trucks are forbidden. Your fiancee has the dual luxury of not being hamstrung by either federal regulations on how many hours he can drive, or various municipal codes against truck traffic or parking. Please leave the allocated truck parking areas for those of us who need them.

Just ask him not to park in the truck parking at truck stops. As Chris said use the trucker path app to find different truck stops. Also Buc-cee’s has ample parking and most Walmarts will allow him to park. Hope this helps.
