My company doesnt want us doing anything like that so we instead will use an old seal from our backhauls and wedge it in there. Either way, it beats sitting around waiting for something thats easy enough to get rolling down the road.
Nice fix! Who says truckers don't have brains.

Today during my pre-trip at 0 dark hundred, I noticed the top marker lights and rear side markers on the trailer out. I wiggled the pigtail and they came on. On the short trip to my delivery, I noticed the lights on and off. Oops. Thankfully I made it safely to my stop. In thinking about how to fix it, I figured out what to do. I grabbed a small flat blade screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers. Pulled the pigtail out and spread all the pins.
This made the plug fit nice and tight and all lights working properly.
Two simple tools saves down time at a shop or waiting for a road service.
