You can get the information you need from your Rand Mcnally Atlas.
What i would be more interested in is a hotel app for truck parking that i could have a setting "budget hotels" such as super 8, motel 6, etc and another setting for "moderate hotels" like la quinta, hampton inn, holiday inn express. then a way to rate them myself, not for.sharing. for instance, i could black out a bad hotel. in addition, if i had a way to eliminate hotels that do not allow pets, that would be cool. Info on where to park along with a google map showing. a way to trip plan my route like trucker path with the hotels along the way. similar to.trucking path having nearby shopping and food listed would be awesome! heck, list pet stores with truck parking, gyms like planet fitness etc. real landromats instead of hotels with laundry. many chealer motels have broken equipment, or one olace had a dryer that took 3 hours for one load and they were still wet!! i would rather have Uberd to a real laundromat.
DAT trucker which is mainly for O/O and has load boards does have a connection with "hotel4truckers.com" the site directs you to the app and promotes discounts, and gives hotel speciifc info.
the problem is that most of them are low budget and im spoiled. i want hotels with better mattresses than my truck, and i want something new and clean when i sit in a bath. also, i have found that the ones on there that say pet welcome lie! i have called and reserved rooms, been told they take pets, used my full clock and been told Goofball cant stay when i got there. guess which hotels i want to black out???
Over the last year i have been compiling a list on google maps of hotels, but i have only been saving the moderate ones.
i know i just went way out in another direction but, hey, you asked!
and yes, the rand mcnally GPS can search for hotels by category, but i still have to go to the phone to check out parking area and pet availability. not that i take him inside for a one nighter, but during home time i bring him inside with me. i take hometime anywhere.
and yes as a newbie i was so scared of backing that i would rather pay $70 for a room and shower and huge empty lot than risk a truck stop...even in the reserve spots. i sucked at backing lol
good luck!

Quick reply before I'm back on the road, it wouldn't be impossible to make. It'd just take a long time to get the lost together, calling to make sure what they offer, etc.
That would probably be something to be devloped over time of course and not quickly, as everything is forever changing.

Make it user supported/updated? Maybe charge a little bit to the hotels, like 5-20 bucks a year to have them verify their information. Send them an email to for a tickler and maybe let folk's reserve in app so the hotel know where it came from. Just some ideas from a brain that's working overtime on Saturday morning.

I was thinking about creating either a website or app for truckers, it was mostly going to be for personal use. But it was going to be very simple.
You'd be able to type in the states abbreviation or full name and in return you'll get certain laws and regulations you would commonly need to know to avoid any problems. I'm sure you experience drivers wouldn't find it much use, but a lot of rookies like myself would.
Side note: making it would be easy, as I was into software development before coming into trucking. The longest part would be getting the information.
