Your not that much overweight. The gal that was in my class was really overweight. But she acted like she wasn't. But being short like that she did have to have the seat forward but she did everything that all of students did. She retakes her test on Friday I was told. But being overweight is not the kiss of death. She had better BP than some of the guys in my class that were the same age. She did have problems in the beginning, but that was shifting. So all she wants to do is make a decent living for her and her daughter. So I give her kudos for sticking it out.

Yea, the BMI and neck size is all about seeing if you must take a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea (per D.O.T. regulation). But even then, there are a lot of ppl that do not meet those threshold numbers and suffer from it. So... go figure???

Sleep Apnea:

A physical disorder in which you have pauses in your breathing, or take shallow breaths, during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Normal breathing will usually resume, sometimes with a loud choking sound or snort.

In obstructive sleep apnea, your airways become blocked or collapse during sleep, causing the pauses and shallow breathing.

It is a chronic condition that will require ongoing management. It affects about 18 million people in the U.S.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Thank you. Honestly i weigh a lot! I know it, however, if you smack me in most places...legs, arms, back, even my buttocks....it is all muscle. my boyfriend laughed and was like "holy crap, you are more solid than i am". all my fat is breasts and stomach. a doctor once told me i am the healthiest overweight person he ever met but told me to lose weight or get a breast reduction. i was like so you are saying my breasts weigh 50 pounds? then the rest of my body is fine!" lol As a teenager i would go to the gym with my dad and he would hustle guys into competing with me on weight. we made a lot of money cause no one would assume how strong i am.

But seriously, at my smallest, i was a size 8 to 10 and weighed 180 pounds! the average size for women now seems to be a size 12...so i was below average in size, but way overweight by the scale.

oh well, such is life. its my german genes.

as for the apnea, there is 2 forms, the genetic and the weight/age kind. even if you lose weight, you cant improve genetic apnea. however, the others such as myself can lose weight and get off the machine.

either way, being fat wont get you sent home.

When I was younger and in the gym two times a day, they said I rocked the house with my snoring Just thinking back. I guess I had it all along.

And any heart issues will be scrutinized of course. More than likely you will have to go through a stress test (or two) and have those results sent along with a doctors letter stating that you are able to operate CMV.

CMV:

A CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business, is involved in interstate commerce, and may fit any of these descriptions:

  • Weighs 10,001 pounds or more
  • Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more
  • Is designed or used to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) not for compensation
  • Is designed or used to transport 9 or more passengers (including the driver) for compensation
  • Is transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placards

A-fib is common and most ppl do not even know they even have it. An Irregular heart beat will be picked up and again must be addressed with a doctor's certification.
