Accident was in the Bloomington- normal area on i-74. Semi truck was heading the opposite direction of the highway resulting in a head on collision with a school bus of a girls jv basketball team. Below was an excerpt from a driver who barely missed him. Link on the bottom.

Lupe Guerrero of Bristow, Okla., was driving his semi west on I-74 and said he and another truck narrowly avoided the wayward semi.

He told The Pantagraph via Facebook early Thursday morning that he saw the truck in front of him swerve violently, then "shortly after that is when I saw the blue semi heading straight towards me. I also made a violent maneuver to avoid being hit and barely missed him.

"I was looking through my rearview mirror and saw when he hit the bus behind me. It made a very loud, thunderous noise."

OMG!!!! I'm hoping no one got killed. Any info on injuries? Was the truck driver drunk?

Two fatalities, eight(?) injured. 34 year old driver from Iowa going wrong way was all I read about the accident.

That's really tragic. My grandson rides the school bus and incidents like this deeply affect me.

Driver of the truck and a 72 yr old volunteer were killed. The coach was airlifted from the scene but is listed in stable condition at this time. 8 girls were on the bus and taken to the hospital with none life threatening injuries. Divine intervention there.

Still investigating on why the driver was driving opposite direction.
