Congratulations! Let the fun begin!
Work hard, be safe, and most of all relax and enjoy yourself. This is the beginning of many experiences and and acquaintances that you will likely not soon forget.
Thank you Old School. I am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead of me.
Yeah, that is a bit of a bummer when you psyche yourself all up to take the test only to get denied..but yes, it is actually better that way..you wouldn't want to go and study all that material, pay for the test, take it and THEN find out your not medically qualified?? Good Luck on your path, Prime is a good company, and I am trying hard to get there in mid March.
That is really strange Ray F., I took my test last Monday and I didn't have my DOT medical card, I just told them I was going to school. They never mentioned I had to have one, we are going to do that the first day of school.

Roadkill,
Hopefullyby the time you get there I will be back there testing for my CDL and getting into the TNT phase of my training. Just look for a short russian guy with a marine corps high and tight.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

I spoke with my Prime recruiter yesterday. I am scheduled to start there Feb 11, 2014. Things were looking up for me then I hit a bit of a snafu. Went to my local DMV. Had what I thought I needed to take written test. But denied.
Since I used to work with the local examiner I asked why not? He said that in order to even take the written portion of the tests. One has to already have a DOT medical card. My friend the examiner told me the FEDS changed this Jan 30, 2013. Needless to I hope I when I go to my V.A. medical appt. wed that they will issue me one.
Anyways other than the disappointment of not being able to test for my permit. It was a good news day for me.
