I always say all of our modern day technology is great...as long as it works!
Technology IS great... it allows you to screw up twice as bad, in only half the time!
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Had my first experience this week running with paper logs.
Monday night when I went to go off duty the system would not respond. I called dispatch and they put me off duty and said to try again in the morning and call tech support if still having problems. Next morning they determined that my unit was DOA and to break out the paper, never used them in the real world. Dispatch emailed me my last 7 days of logs and a malfunction letter to show to an officer if stopped. First day attempt looked pretty pathetic but I'm getting better.
Turned the truck into the shop on Wed night thinking it would be done on Thursday afternoon then I went back out. Get to the truck on Thursday and the whole unit was gone, just a wire sticking out of the dash. Both the module on the truck and the tablet unit were shot.
They have ordered a new system and on the bright side they are updating me from the old AOBRD system I had to the new ELD platform they are using. Will be nice to be able to "tweak" some entries again.
