Any company is probably going to require you to take a refresher due to the time lapse. Definetly a great idea req’d or not. I get a little rusty after being out of the truck a week. It all smoothes out quickly but none the less it happens.

I suggest to not take a refresher on your own. If a company is interested in you, they might arrange the course for you.

But generally, anyone who hasn't driven a semi in even 6 months will probably need a refresher of some sort.

Floyd, I just returned to Swift after being out of a truck for 2 years. I had 10 months of previous driving experience with them prior to leaving in February of 2017. I was re hired as an Experienced Driver. 2 days of orientation, followed by a 50 hour refresher course, all paid by the way. Contact some recruiters and see what they require. Good luck!
