I can’t think of anywhere I’ve been driving OTR in North America where there wasn’t a restroom available within 75 miles, and usually much closer.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
For anyone who has had to recover an abandoned truck, think about the state of filth that many drivers live in. You want to add a bathroom in the truck on top of that? OMG.
There are just so many concerns with this it would take a week to cover it all.
Who cleans em out when drivers change trucks?
What happens to the contents if the truck rolls over on a ramp?
What type of chemicals would be used and who is going to fill/clean them regularly?
I think this is one of those ideas that seems ok on the surface but would be a catastrophe in practice. It also has zero to do with the driver shortage.
Don't bother trying to answer those questions I asked. They're rhetorical. This idea is a no-go.
