I was just wondering how many points come off your CDL license if you have a ELD violation? And how many points can you lose before you lose your CDL license?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I would strongly advise you to not drive any truck for your company that is not ELD compliant, if something happens you could end up in jail.

Same goes for all the other maintenance issues they seem to have.

Oh don’t worry! Just wondering about the fate and this other driver who was busted Friday. I can’t afford to do anything to lose mine. Thanks!

I’d recommend both you and the other driver leave that circus pronto.

Well from what I can find on the internet the other driver may be done for awhile!

My point exactly. Did the company suddenly shut down after they screwed over their employee? Did they give a hoot that they were the leading cause? Will they do it again?

Company fully operational and all trucks on road. Even the driver that was busted Friday. Company did however sent up for ELD installation on Saturday. But all trucks will be running the full week.

So if I understand correctly they are not running ELDs until Saturday?

Nope, not in the 3 newly leased tractors. Was told that Saturday was the earliest they could get the company out to install them. So now those drivers are running backroads avoiding scales. Just a matter of time before they get busted again.
