I'm no help personally, but does your truck have a manual with it? If not, you can probably find one online. But I'm sure some of the other drivers might be able to help you.
I'll take a look tomorrow since I have to use a mack for the day while my volvo gets the window replaced (pickup truck coming opposite direction kicked me a present from his little trailer). I know the "truck going uphill" is the hill start disable. Hill start keeps the truck from rolling back.
I tried the hill assist and it still rolled back on me so never tried again. Not sure what the deal is with that. Hopefully someone sheds some light on that one for us.
It's supposed to roll back when you punch that button. That's what it does - the button cancels the hill assist feature. Put a little pressure on the brake pedal before releasing it. That should cause the hill assist feature to hold while you're getting ready to push the throttle.
