Serious question. How do you guys manage to meet each other, with all the traveling, it seems like it would be hard to plan something.

It is hard to plan. Often just a quick glance at the TT GPS tracker will show you if someone else is nearby. From there you just try to see if your schedules will match.

Some of us also frequent the same terminals, shippers and receivers.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Extremely difficult to meet up on the road. Much easier at a company terminal to meet fellow TT members.

I sent Moe a text this morning that I was going to be unloading on the east side of Portland. The good side of town: no terrorists, bad guys, or snowflakes to be seen anywhere.

We met up and talked about trucking and other stuff for more than an hour.

Had a chance to meet PackRat today at his stop in Lubbock. He was very friendly and informative about the truck and about the trucking industry. I am thankful for all of the good information I got from him. I also learned that I may have an issue in a Cascadia truck with legroom between the seat and the accelerator. That is definitely something I will be looking into.

I know, right??? I'm way up in the Northeast corner of New York State in the Adirondacks and no one ever comes up here. I might have to move to Ohio or something!

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

You get to Ohio, we'll all meet up at Annie and Tom's place for a group photo!

It has been great to meet three fellow TT members in a week: Moe, Laura, and Raif.

Who will be next?
