The effects of last year's California Supreme Court ruling against Dynamex Operations West, Inc., continue to reverberate through the halls of California's state legislative bodies with the ultimate result that California will no longer recognize a truck driver's status as an independent contractor.

More California stupidity - what would you expect.

This would probably also apply to lease operators - who are independent contractors (as well as O/O's that are leased on).

The second provision is probably THE.DUMBEST.EXAMPLE of how insane lawmakers are there. An IC cannot be in the same business as the company that hires them?

This is probably being done so Commifornia can recoup some of the taxes lost from citizens and businesses fleeing the TAX INSANITY that the state has become.

You are so right. They are trying to get every penny a person has in their wallet, plus more.

Here's some more stupidity:

I own and old BMW (1998, 540 i). In Commiefornia registration is $168.00. In Indiana, it's $30. Isn't that how the Dems do everything, try to take every last pe by a person has?

Even though the stupidity of Commiefornia ranks #1 in this, other states are following suit. Sorry didn't mean to high-Jack this thread.
