My Swift recruiter called me this morning and the director for TransTech so I’m all set, I’m set to leave Sunday for the hotel and to start school Monday I can’t wait the director was telling me that the we will taking the cdl permit test Thursday.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I would start on the high road training program here to get a head start.

When talking to the director I asked her what type of trucks will we be training on she said manuals and we have a few autos, I told her that I wanted to train on manual since I never really driven one except for a ford stick shift that my stepdad was teaching me around the yard so he was great at teaching me the basics he recently retired from XPO Logistics.
