You can file a dispute with HireRight. First you have to GET A COPY OF YOUR DAC.
You can get one HERE at HireRight
After you get it - you can DISPUTE the entry. Though if they company "sticks to their story" - it will likely stay on there. In a lot of cases, the company will simply not respond - and it will be removed. But if the company took the time to put it on there, they will most likely respond to KEEP IT ON THERE.
DAC's operate under the same rules as the Fair Credit Reporting Act - so they have to follow the same "dispute resolution precedures".
Best of luck to you...
Rick
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
I’ll just add this. Companies report things to DAC that may or may not be your fault. I had a truck clip my front left hub and damage the lug nuts on 95 ( I didn’t get a truck name or number) Roehl didn’t fuss about it...but they did list it as an incident in my DAC. ....I hasn’t cost me any opportunities since. In fact, Roehl hired me back once and I now run for Ruan Transportation...both high in safety.
So I guess it would be good to challenge it, But I would’nt lose a lot of sleep over it.
Good luck

All accidents you are involved in are listed on DAC and employment verifications. That is where the whole "Preventable vs Non-Preventable" comes into play.
Non-Preventable accidents are no big deal to future employers.

I recently had a background check completed by a prospective employer. When reviewing my copy, I noticed a previous carrier is reporting an accident. The "accident" was damage to a downspout on a building at the corner of an alley. The damage was reported a week after I had been there. No one witnessed the damage occur. They called the company and said they simply assumed it was me. I took pictures of my trailer with no scratches or damage and was told the company would not be claiming the accident. However now I see an accident being reported. Do I have any recourse? Thanks in advance.
