It might help you to write out the pre trip several times on paper. Write it in the same order every time. It helped me learn the pre trip before I ever even saw a truck.
For backing, I didn't get as much practice as I thought I needed while in school. When it was time to test I figured I had a 50/50 chance at passing. I got lucky and passed.
I passed pre trip and backing first try. Driving (which I was very confident about) took me two tries. I hopped a curb on my first turn and that was it for my first attempt.
I dont know of many, if any, people who are totally confident going into their CDL tests. Try to keep a positive attitude.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hey guys I'm doing weekend training we already have permits but we've been in class last two weekends watching videos taking tests were set to get out on truck next weekend my question is how many times did it take you guys to learn the pre trip,backing and road I'm better at hands on so watching you tube pre trip videos the information dosent really stick also how long before you felt confident in passing and also how many times did it take you guys to pass skills? Much obliged from Tennessee
