Every week I try to reflect on what experience I gain for the week. This week I made my first delivery to a store. I’ve always done dc to dc. I pulled into this Sams club, I thought I’ve got have the wrong address, or maybe dc is behind the store. No actually delivered to the store. Went okay! Today I had 43,000 # of cooking oil. Now I’ve carried beer, water, juice and milk. I’m always cautious with liquids. But this stuff felt like I was pulling a slip and slide! It would lean into the road curves. Had to drive it through Tennessee. Was really nerve racking! Was a wet week, windy, temperatures dropped, and snow in some areas. Hope everyone had a safe week!

If I am live unloading I much prefer stores to DC's. With a DC you might be unloaded in 45 minutes or it might be an all day affair and they are not great at giving you a straight answer on when it will be done. At a store they usually will unload you pretty fast as they need the dock cleared out also where a DC has lots of docks just sitting. I spent 12 hours at a Target DC in Minneapolis 2 days ago and then went 12 miles to get loaded for trip home and was in and out of the lot in 40 minutes.

43,000 pounds of cooking oil...that's a LOT of deep fried turkeys for the holidays. That sounds good, I think I'll take Thanksgiving off.

Ready to sign up for food grade tanker? The gorge on I-40 just west of Asheville,NC is always fun with 45-48k sloshing around in the back.

I ran through there a couple times right after going solo with CFI as a raw rookie. Puckered up a couple of times going East toward Asheville, and that was in perfect driving conditions! I am so glad I do not have to worry about Winter driving any further West than Dowagiac, MI. Haha.
