My brother told me the other day that there are a few truck drivers where he works that made over 200k last year. That's VERY hard to believe.

That is very hard to believe... so don't!

I am afraid of getting back into a big truck again.

If there is such a thing as a truck driver making 200K, I can promise you he's not afraid of driving a big truck. You've got bigger problems than just not being happy with your pay. Drivers determine how much they make at this. You can focus on UPS or any other of what you consider to be high paying trucking jobs, but your end results will always be based on your performance at the job. Confidence creates opportunity - Fear cripples us.

You will have to be productive at trucking to make good money. There's just no getting around that.

Thanks for the replies guys. My brother told me the other day that there are a few truck drivers where he works that made over 200k last year. That's VERY hard to believe.

Senior guys at FXF on long runs can easily make 120K+ a year. Long runs being 660 miles per day at .67 per mile. Plus Drop and Hook , Turns, Fuel, etc.

200K. Wow. Show me the money :)

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

Are the guys that are supposedly making 200k home daily or are they the drivers doing team in a sleeper? I've heard those guys make a ton of money but never seen exact figures and paystubs to back it up.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
